Zhao Gongming, also known as Marshal Zhao Gongming or the God of Wealth Zhao Gongming, is a highly respected deity in Chinese folk religion and Taoism.
Origin and Legend
Zhao Gongming is said to have lived during the time of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. According to legend, he was a powerful general who possessed extraordinary martial arts skills and magical powers.
In one version of the story, Zhao Gongming was originally a demon who was later subdued by Jiang Ziya, a prominent figure in the <Investiture of the Gods>. After his defeat, Zhao Gongming was transformed into the God of Wealth by the Jade Emperor, in recognition of his bravery and strength.
Characteristics and Symbols
Zhao Gongming is often depicted as a fierce and imposing figure. He is usually shown wearing armor and holding a staff or a whip. In some depictions, he is accompanied by a black tiger, which symbolizes his power and authority.
